Blinn shuts out Alvin for NJCAAe Call of Duty victory

The Buccaneers improved to 2-2 in NJCAAe Call of Duty play

The Blinn College esports Call of Duty team earned a shutout victory over Alvin Community College in NJCAA Esports (NJCAAe) play Tuesday.

The Buccaneers were led to victory by the quartet of Jaden Navarro, Aariz Ali, Karsyn Krchnak, and Jordan Vo. Blinn improved to 2-2 in NJCAA Esports (NJCAAe) play.

The matchup pitted the four Bucs against the Dolphins, with each team attempting to collect three wins across three modes of play in the first-person-shooter game:
  • Hardpoint: Teams secure rotating capture points, earning points for control. A team wins by reaching 250 points first.
  • Search and Destroy: Teams alternate attacking and defending, with the goal to plant or defuse an objective. The first team to win 6 rounds claims victory.
  • Control: Teams attack and defend two capture points, with limited lives adding an elimination aspect. The first team to win three rounds claims victory.
The Bucs cruised to a 250-137 victory on the opening Rewind map (Hardpoint) before taking a 6-0 victory on the Red Card map (Search and Destroy). Blinn then closed out the series with a 3-0 triumph on the Hacienda map (Control).

"We know this is a stretch of the season where we can't afford to drop another series if we want to give ourselves a better seed into playoffs," said Bucs assistant coach and Call of Duty coach Ryan Lucich. "We feel confident about our upcoming matchups and look to continue building to be able to take on Keyano College and the University of South Carolina-Sumter again come playoff time."

Blinn Call of Duty gets back to work with a National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) bout against Nichols College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 53 national championships since 1987.
