Rudy Roediger enters his sixth season as an assistant coach with the Blinn College men's soccer program, bringing more than two decades of collegiate, international, and professional coaching experience. Since arriving at Blinn in 2021, Roediger has helped establish the Buccaneers as one of the NJCAA's premier programs.
During his tenure, Blinn has produced five consecutive record-setting seasons, including three straight years of program-record victories with 11 wins in 2021, 13 in 2022, and 14 in 2023. The Buccaneers have qualified for the Gulf South District Tournament in each of his five seasons, advancing to the program's first-ever district semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2023 before earning the school's first berth in the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship tournament in 2025.
The Buccaneers have ranked among the nation's top offensive teams since Roediger's arrival, leading the NJCAA in assists in 2022 and 2024 after finishing second nationally in 2021 and 2023. In 2023, Blinn set program records with 84 goals and 116 assists.
Roediger has helped develop multiple NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches All-Americans, including the program's first selections by both organizations. Every player currently ranked among Blinn's all-time top 10 in career or single-season assists, goals, points, and appearances achieved those marks during his tenure. He has also coached three consecutive top-five NJCAA goalkeepers in total victories: Kevin Pena (2022), Noah LeMaster (2023), and Connor Vela (2024).
Off the field, Blinn men's soccer student-athletes have earned more than 300 academic honors during Roediger's tenure, including a program-record 107 recognitions during the 2024-25 academic year, when 80 percent of the roster received at least one academic award. Additionally, 38 players have continued their academic and playing careers at NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA institutions.
Before joining Blinn, Roediger served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Oakland University, helping guide the Golden Grizzlies to the most Horizon League victories in program history during the 2020-21 season. He also helped develop 27 All-Horizon League selections, including Hermann Trophy semifinalist Noah Jensen.
Roediger's collegiate coaching career also includes head coaching stops at Andrew College (Ga.) and Lackawanna College (Pa.), along with assistant coaching positions at Oklahoma Panhandle State, Montreat College (N.C.), Bluefield University (Va.), and Bethany College (W.Va.).
Internationally, Roediger served as technical director and head coach for FK Babrungas in Lithuania's Antra Lyga, becoming the first American to coach professionally in the country. Since 2015, he has also served as a national team scout for the British Virgin Islands Football Association, helping the nation advance to the second round of FIFA World Cup qualifying for the first time in its history in 2024.
Roediger earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he was a member of the Wildcats' 1999 NCCAA Final Four team. He also holds coaching and scouting certifications from United Soccer Coaches, the U.S. Soccer Federation, and The Football Association (England).
Roediger resides in Bellville, Texas, with his wife, Shannon, and daughter, Sophia.
