Rudy Roediger

Rudy Roediger enters his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Blinn College men’s soccer program, bringing more than two decades of collegiate, international, and professional coaching experience. Since he arrived in 2021, Roediger has played an instrumental role in Blinn’s emergence as one of the nation’s most prolific and consistent programs in the NJCAA.

During his tenure at Blinn, Roediger has helped guide the Buccaneers to four consecutive record-setting seasons, including three straight years with new single-season win totals (11 in 2021, 13 in 2022, and 14 in 2023). The Buccaneers have reached the Gulf South District Tournament in each of his first four seasons, including the program’s first-ever semifinal appearances in 2022 and 2023.

Blinn has ranked among the nation’s elite offensive units since Roediger’s arrival. The Bucs led the NJCAA in total assists in 2022 and 2024, while ranking No. 2 in 2021 and 2023. In 2023, the team set a program record with 84 goals and finished second in the nation with a team record 116 assists.

Roediger has mentored multiple All-Americans and all-region selections, including the program’s first NJCAA and United Soccer Coaches All-Americans. His development work has extended throughout the roster, with every player in Blinn’s all-time top 10 for career and single-season assists, goals, points, and appearances set those marks during his tenure. He has also produced three consecutive top-5 NJCAA goalkeepers in total wins: Kevin Pena (2nd in 2022), Noah LeMaster (1st in 2023), and Connor Vela (5th in 2024).

Off the field, Roediger has helped establish Blinn as a model of academic excellence. Buccaneer men’s soccer student-athletes have earned more than 300 academic honors during his tenure, including a program-record 107 honors in the 2024–25 academic year, when 80% of the roster received at least one award. Additionally, 38 players have gone on to continue their academic and playing careers at four-year institutions across NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA levels.

Prior to his time at Blinn, Roediger served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Oakland University, where he helped guide the Golden Grizzlies to the most Horizon League wins in program history during the 2020–21 season. He played a key role in the development of 27 All-Horizon League selections, including 2020–21 Hermann Trophy semifinalist Noah Jensen, who led the nation in assists and plays professionally with Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League.

Roediger’s collegiate coaching career also includes successful stints as head coach at Andrew College (Ga.) and Lackawanna College (Pa.). At Andrew College, he led the program to a No. 16 national ranking, the school’s highest since 2005, while overseeing a +8 win/loss improvement — the second-largest in the NJCAA. While at Lackawanna, Roediger coached future Dominica national team standouts Fitz Jolly and Nick Anthony, both of whom featured in World Cup Qualifiers. He also has held assistant coaching positions at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Montreat College (N.C.), Bluefield University (Va.), and Bethany College (W.Va.).

Since 2015, he has volunteered as a national team scout for the British Virgin Islands Football Association, helping identify 19 international players. In 2024, his scouting and support helped the BVI national team reach the second round of FIFA World Cup Qualifying for the first time in its history.
