Michael McBride

Michael McBride enters his eighth season as head coach of the Blinn College men's soccer program. A collegiate head coach for 27 seasons, McBride has compiled a 93-53-2 record at Blinn and a career mark of 292-124-26.

McBride guided the Buccaneers to the most successful season in program history in 2025. Blinn posted a 14-5-1 overall record, matching the program record for victories, while capturing its first Region 14 South championship with a program-best 10-2 conference mark. The Buccaneers earned the program's first berth in the NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship tournament and produced a school-record nine-match winning streak. Blinn also spent seven weeks in the NJCAA Division I national rankings, climbing to a program-best No. 8 on Oct. 20, 2025.

The 2025 season also featured several individual milestones. Sophomore midfielder Sam Sebagabo became the first first-team NJCAA Division I All-American in program history, while he and freshman defender/forward Malikai Fry earned Region 14 first-team all-region honors. Sophomore goalkeeper Noah LeMaster established program career records with 22 victories and 11 shutouts, and 11 Buccaneers signed to continue their careers at four-year institutions.

In 2024, Blinn finished 11-7-3 overall and placed third in the Region 14 South standings to qualify for the Gulf South District Tournament. Four Buccaneers earned all-region honors, highlighted by first-team selection Ethan Lindo. Midfielder Joe Coyle and defenders Alex Munroe and Gabriel Ordonez were second-team honorees.

The Buccaneers also enjoyed historic seasons in 2023 and 2022. Blinn set a then-program record with 14 victories in 2023 while advancing to the Gulf South District Tournament semifinals for the second time in program history. David Garcia became the program's first United Soccer Coaches All-American and earned second-team NJCAA All-America honors after setting school records with 19 regular-season goals and 35 career goals. Six Buccaneers earned all-region recognition.

In 2022, Blinn finished 13-7-2 and qualified for the Gulf South District Tournament for a fifth consecutive season. The Buccaneers earned the first postseason victory in program history with a 1-0 quarterfinal win over Jacksonville College.

Over his coaching career, McBride has compiled a 292-124-26 record, earned 13 coach of the year honors, and coached 18 professional players, including one Canadian men's national team player. Seven of his players have earned player of the year honors, including two national players of the year. His teams have also received seven United Soccer Coaches College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Awards and eight United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Awards.

McBride's coaching honors include Mountain East Conference Coach of the Year (2013); NCAA Division II Independent Colleges Coach of the Year, Independents' Collegiate Athletic Association National Coach of the Year, and Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association NCAA Division II Coach of the Year (2011); American Mideast Conference Coach of the Year, NSCAA/adidas Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year, and Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association NCAA Division II Coach of the Year (2010); American Mideast Conference Coach of the Year (2008); American Mideast Conference North Coach of the Year (2005-07); NSCAA/adidas Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year (2005); and American Mideast Conference North Coach of the Year (2002).

Prior to Blinn, McBride spent three seasons as head women's soccer coach at Nicholls State University, where his teams earned United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Awards each season while posting the highest team grade-point average and community engagement totals in program history.

Before Nicholls State, McBride spent 16 seasons as head men's soccer coach at Notre Dame College, where he founded the program in 2001 and guided its transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II. He also served as the college's assistant athletic director for community engagement from 2009-16. Under his leadership, the Falcons compiled a 213-76-16 record, the highest winning percentage in program history.

McBride holds a U.S. Soccer National A-Senior Coaching License, the United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma, and Preliminary and Preparatory coaching badges from The Football Association (England).

He earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's degree in education from Walsh University before completing a second master's degree in education from Notre Dame College in 2013.

McBride's wife, Becky, serves as Blinn College's vice chancellor for student services. They have two daughters, Roisin and Alannah.
