Keafer Clegg

Keafer Clegg enters his third season as an assistant coach for the Blinn College football program. 

Prior to Blinn, Clegg served as the defensive coordinator for Sul Ross State University. Clegg led a 2022 Lobo defense that ranked second in the American Southwest Conference in interceptions and third in third-down defense. Clegg also coached the NJCAA Division III leader in solo and total tackles, as well as multiple all-conference players. 

Clegg also coached at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, from 2019 to 2021, where he served as the defensive run game coordinator and defensive line coach. Clegg also had a significant recruiting impact, including a first-team all-conference running back and a second-team all-conference punter and linebacker. 

From 2017-2018, Clegg was at San Diego Mesa College as defensive run game coordinator and defensive line and outside linebackers coach. There, he earned his first bowl ring while coaching numerous All-California and all-conference players, including the conference defensive MVP. The defense was ranked first in California Junior Colleges in turnovers and second in total defense. 

Clegg served as a graduate assistant with the defensive line at Howard Payne University from 2015-2016, where he coached a second-team all-conference defensive end. 

Cleggs’ coaching career began at Dumas High School in Dumas, Texas, where he served as the outside linebackers coach for the 2014 season. 

Clegg is a native of Fort Worth, Texas, where he attended Paschal High School and participated in football and wrestling. He played four years of college football at Howard Payne University. He graduated from Howard Payne with a bachelor’s degree in history and a master's in sports and wellness leadership. 

Clegg and his wife, Kaitlyn, live in Brenham with their dog, Daisy.
