Following the relaunch of Blinn College's men's and women's cross country programs in 2024, Jesse Parker begins his third season as head coach of the Buccaneers.
Parker arrived at Blinn following 20 seasons as the head cross country coach and an assistant track and field coach at NCAA Division I Sam Houston State University.
In 2025, Blinn's men's and women's cross country programs continued their rise in the NJCAA ranks. The Buccaneers hosted the Region 14 Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships, capturing both team titles before qualifying for the NJCAA Division I Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships for a second consecutive season. Blinn improved upon its inaugural-season performances, as the men's team placed 10th among 32 teams while the women finished 13th in a 22-team field.
Throughout the season, Parker's teams competed against numerous NCAA programs and defeated several NCAA Division I opponents. Freshmen Matthew Binkley and Ryan Fernandez also qualified for the NJCAA Division I Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Parker was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Atlantic Region Men's and Women's Coach of the Year, while Binkley and sophomore Clare White earned the organization's Atlantic Region Male and Female Athlete of the Year honors.
In the program's inaugural 2024 season, both Buccaneer teams qualified for the NJCAA Division I Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships. Sophomore Eric Lagat also earned an individual berth to the NJCAA Division I Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the steeplechase.
During his tenure at Sam Houston State, Parker served in several leadership roles, including recruiting coordinator, home cross country meet director, and team travel coordinator. He helped guide the Bearkats to 21 conference track and field championships. In 2017, Parker coached Jeffrey Moore to Sam Houston State's first NCAA All-America honor by an endurance runner after Moore placed 10th in the 800 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a school-record time of 1:47.40.
During the 2016-17 academic year, two of the three Southland Conference Women's Student-Athlete of the Year awards were earned by Parker's student-athletes.
Parker's impact on collegiate track and field extended beyond Sam Houston State. During the 2016-17 academic year, he served alongside Dan Waters, Brett Halter, Ricard Santos, Jeff Bovee, and Amy Horst on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Recruiting Calendar Working Group.
Parker earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Sam Houston State in 2005 before completing a master's degree in kinesiology in 2007.
