Kenyana Heard

Kenyana Heard begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Blinn College football team. 

Heard hails from Ecru, Mississippi, where he was a four-year letter winner for coach Brian Sutton at North Pontotoc High School. Heard led the Vikings to a 10-4 record and a Class 3A Region I title as a senior playing on the offensive and defensive lines. He was named to the WCBI All-End Zone team, Super 22 and Super 12, and earned the Offensive Line Leader Award.  

At the collegiate level, Heard started all 12 games at right guard for the 2015 NJCAA national champion Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers. Heard was an anchor on an offensive line which paved the way for an attack that averaged 38.7 points and 480.8 yards of total offense including 190.2 rushing and 290.7 passing. Heard later transferred and competed on the offensive line for the Butler Community College Grizzlies in 2016.  

From there, Heard went to Southwestern College in 2019 and helped the Moundbuilders earn a No. 24 NAIA national ranking. He was also part of an offensive line unit that paved the way for the NAIA's No. 3 rushing attack (255.2 yards per game) and seventh-ranked offense (457.1 yards per game). Coach Heard finished his collegiate playing career with the Midwestern State Mustangs. He competed in seven games, making three starts at left guard. 

Coach Heard began his coaching career in Iowa Falls, Iowa, for the Ellsworth Panthers, where he spent a brief time leading the offensive line room. He was in charge of recruiting in the Southeast Region, where he is a native. He also oversaw recruiting within the City of Des Moines.  

Coach Heard later accepted the tight ends coaching job at Butler Community College. The team finished with an 8-4 record in 2022 and appeared in the Heart of Texas Bowl, where they defeated Kilgore 28-24. Heard was a recruiter for the Georgia area.
