The Buccaneers scored a season-high seven goals to earn a season sweep of the Rams

Blinn College men's soccer turned in one of its most prolific offensive performances of the season Thursday night, defeating Southwestern Christian College 7-1 at Rankin Field in Brenham.

The Buccaneers completed a two-match season sweep of the Rams and improved to 4-2-1 overall.

"It was great to see how we responded to the disappointing result in our last game," Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. "Today showed what's possible when everyone pulls in the same direction, and it was a true squad effort that was enjoyable to watch. The only blemish was letting the clean sheet get away from us."

Blinn cruised during the opening 45 minutes and took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

Sophomore midfielder Jordan Franco opened the scoring in the 12th minute from freshman midfielder Victor Garcia. Sophomore forward Kayde Gielinck doubled the lead in the 22nd minute from sophomore forward Nelson Andrade and sophomore midfielder Mason Sorrels.

Freshman midfielder Diego Mendoza scored twice before halftime, finding the net in the 40th minute from Gielinck and freshman forward Arthur Santos before scoring again in the 45th minute from sophomore forward Joseph Udedi.

Freshman forward Cole Hernandez pushed the Blinn lead to 5-0 in the 56th minute, finishing a close-range, near-post shot from freshman forward Atticus Applebee and freshman defender Peter Evans.

Freshman forward Vukasin Ivanovic added his first goal of the night in the 74th minute from freshman midfielder Noah Schroder. Southwestern Christian scored in the 82nd minute before Ivanovic headed home a corner kick from freshman defender Lobokola Enduki in the 85th minute to complete the scoring.

The seven goals matched the fifth-most scored by Blinn all-time in a game against NJCAA Division I opposition. The last time the Bucs scored seven goals was in 2025, when they defeated Hill College 7-3.

The Bucs also received contributions throughout the lineup, with 10 different players recording an assist. Blinn's 10 assists tied for the fourth-most in a single game in program history.

Ivanovic extended his scoring streak to four matches. He has now scored multiple goals in back-to-back games and has eight goals this season, tying Dave Danielles (2021) and Devon Arnold (2024) for the 10th-most in a single season in program history.

Blinn also continued to establish itself as one of the nation's most dangerous teams on corner kicks. The Bucs currently lead the NJCAA with 47 corners, already matching the season total of the 2019 Blinn team, which played 18 games. Last season, Blinn led the nation with 142 corner kicks through 20 games.

Freshman goalkeeper Ian Aitboughima started in goal for the Bucs and earned the win after playing the first half. He did not record a save. Freshman goalkeeper Andre Prieto played 26 minutes in the second half and made two saves, while freshman goalkeeper Matthew Smith played the final 19 minutes and made one save while allowing one goal.

Blinn will return to Region 14 play Tuesday, Sept. 15, when the Bucs host Angelina College at 7:30 p.m. at Rankin Field.

"Our next game is set up to be a barnburner," McBride said.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 53 national championships since 1987.
