Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Blinn erupts for nine goals in rout of Texas Southmost

The Buccaneers concluded the regular season with a 10-4-3 record

The Blinn College men's soccer team closed its regular season with a historic offensive performance Friday, rolling to a 9-1 Region 14 victory over Texas Southmost College at Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.

The Buccaneers improved to 10-4-3 overall and 6-3-3 in the South division, reaching double-digit victories for the sixth consecutive season.

Blinn's nine goals marked the most the program has scored against a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I opponent, surpassing previous eight-goal performances against Trinity Valley Community College (twice) and Texas Southmost.

"I'm really pleased with the intensity and attacking quality the players brought as soon as we kicked off today," Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. "Scoring nine goals to close out our regular-season schedule is a great statement from the lads."

Freshman forward Vukasin Ivanovic led the offensive explosion with two goals and an assist, giving him 16 goals and 36 points on the season. His 36 points tied Farit Ha's 2019 total for the second-most in a season in program history, while his 16 goals tied David Garcia for the most by a freshman.

Ivanovic opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the ninth minute before adding another goal in the 13th minute on an assist from freshman midfielder Victor Garcia. His second goal proved to be the game-winner, his fourth of the season, tying him for the second-most in a season in program history.

Vukasin also recorded his fifth multi-goal game of the season, the most by a freshman in program history and the second-most overall behind Ha's six in 2019. Garcia holds the program's career record with eight multi-goal games.

Sophomore midfielder Paolo Imeneo added a goal in the 33rd minute with assists from freshman forwards Greatiyke Nwosu and Cole Hernandez, and sophomore forward Nelson Andande scored in the 42nd minute to give Blinn a commanding halftime advantage.

The Bucs continued their scoring after the break. Hernandez found the net in the 59th minute with assists from freshman forward Lincoln Wilson and sophomore midfielder Jordan Franco. Sophomore defender Benji Minkette scored in the 64th minute on a header off a corner kick, followed by goals from Nwosu in the 66th minute and freshman defender Lobokola Enduki in the 68th minute. Freshman midfielder Robbie Paredes capped the scoring in the 71st minute with an assist from freshman midfielder Manuel Silva.

Blinn outshot Texas Southmost 32-4 and held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Samir Bristol improved to 9-2-2 on the season after recording two saves. His ninth victory moved him into a tie for fourth in program history for wins in a season alongside Noah LeMaster (2025) and Kevin Pena (2021).

Despite the emphatic win, Blinn's postseason path in Region 14 remains dependent on other results after the Bucs dropped points in conference play.

"Unfortunately, we made a few mistakes in Region play that put us in a position where we now have to wait on other results, but our focus now is strictly on controlling what we can control and getting ready for Thursday's Gulf South District Quarterfinal," McBride said. "Thankfully, at home."

Blinn's first-round opponent and match date for the Gulf South District Tournament are to be determined.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 53 national championships since 1987.
