Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 20 Blinn uses second-half outburst to seal Region 14 road win over Paris

At 5-1 overall, the Buccaneers are off to their best start since 2023

A barrage of goals in the second half helped the 20th-ranked Blinn College men's soccer team secure a 4-0 Region 14 road victory over Paris Junior College on Saturday in Paris, Texas.

The Buccaneers won for the second time in two days following a region win over Northeast Texas Community College on Friday and are now 5-1 overall with a 3-1 mark in region contests.

"This was the biggest win of the season, and our squad depth got us the result today," Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. "Two games within 24 hours requires all hands to the pump, and that's what we had this weekend."

The Bucs are off to their best start since a 5-1 run to begin the 2023 campaign.

Blinn got going early when sophomore midfielder Sam Sebagabo found the back of the net in the ninth minute of play. Freshman forward Shefe Odojukan and freshman midfielder Paolo Imeneo assisted on the goal.

The Bucs took their 1-0 edge into halftime, but following the break, Sebagabo kickstarted an offensive flurry for the visitors.

In the 58th minute, Sebagabo scored his second goal of the match on the combined help of freshman midfielder Jordan Franco and freshman midfielder/defender Coltyn Hale.

Sebagabo's six goals this season are tied for third most in NJCAA Division I. His 14 total points (two apiece for goals and one for assists), is also tied for third nationally.

In the 60th minute, sophomore midfielder Nawfal Hadj-Hamou made it 3-0 on assists from freshman forward Joseph Udedi and freshman forward/defender Jesus Gonzalez.

Sophomore forward Amir Simpson punctuated the offensive outburst with a goal in the 63rd minute, helped by Udedi and sophomore defender/midfielder Geoff Ojango.

The Bucs outshot the Dragons 20-10 and had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Blinn's shutout was cemented by sophomore goalkeeper Noah LeMaster, who made five saves en route to his fifth win of the season. LeMaster also picked up his third shutout of the year and the 11th of his career, tying him for the most in program history alongside Kevin Pena (2021-22).

The Bucs return to the pitch for a non-region home matchup against Western Texas College at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas. Blinn will look to sweep the season series from the Westerners after earning a 2-0 road win Aug. 24.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 53 national championships since 1987.
