No. 12 Blinn gets past Dallas Christian, Jefferson on day two of Blinn Invitational

The Buccaneers conclude play in the Invitation with matches against Ranger and Hill on Saturday

The No. 12 Blinn College volleyball team kept up its winning ways with two more victories at the Blinn Invitational on Friday at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.

The Buccaneers dispatched both Dallas Christian College and Jefferson College in three sets to earn their 16th and 17th sweeps of the season and extend their winning streak to 17 matches.

"I thought we played decently today," Blinn head coach Terry Gamble said. "Hopefully, we can play better tomorrow."

The Bucs (24-2) got started Friday with a 25-7, 25-7, 25-11 win over Dallas Christian.

Offensively, NJCAA Division I kills leader and sophomore right-side hitter Kellen Dorotik paced Blinn with 16 kills. Freshman outside hitter MaKenna Loo added eight kills, while freshman blocker Lillie Thibodeaux and freshman hitter/blocker Rosalinda Navarro tacked on four apiece.

Freshman setters Leah Hoss and Bromli Watson distributed 16 and 15 set assists, respectively. 

Hoss had a team-high three service aces.

Defensively, Loo posted 11 digs to lead the Bucs, while freshman libero Sophie Ilagan followed with nine. At the net, Watson and freshman middle blocker Karolina Karabasz recorded two block assists apiece.

Blinn picked up its second win of the day with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-12 triumph over Jefferson.

Loo (12 kills) and Dorotik (10) led Blinn's offense, trailed by six apiece for Cetkovic and Navarro.

Hoss kept Blinn's attack moving with 22 set assists with Bromli adding 14.

Freshman outside hitter Greta Rakow knocked down four service aces for the Bucs.

Blinn's defense was anchored by a 15-dig performance from Ilagan, nine from Loo, seven for Hoss, and five each for Rakow and sophomore libero Kirby Kliafas. At the net, Cetkovic and Navarro had one block assist apiece.

The Bucs' run in the tournament concludes Saturday with an 11 a.m. tilt against Ranger College followed by a 5 p.m. finale against Hill College.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 49 national championships since 1987.
