No. 12 Blinn runs winning streak to seven, stays perfect in Region XIV with sweep of Panola

The Buccaneers get right back to work with a home match against Temple College on Wednesday

The 12th-ranked Blinn College volleyball team pushed its winning streak to seven and stayed unbeaten in Region XIV with a home sweep of Panola College on Tuesday in Brenham, Texas.

The Buccaneers made quick work of the Fillies, earning a 25-15, 25-21, 25-16 victory at the Kruse Center. The three-set win was the 10th of the season for Blinn (14-2, 3-0 Region XIV).

A well-rounded offensive attack propelled the Bucs, who got a pair of double-digit kill performances from freshman outside hitters MaKenna Loo (14) and Greta Rakow (12).

NJCAA Division I kills leader and sophomore right-side hitter Kellen Dorotik added nine. Freshman setters Bromli Watson and Leah Hoss kept the offense moving with 16 and 15 set assists, respectively. 

Defensively, sophomore libero Cierra Pesak had 13 digs, complimented by a 10-dig showing for freshman libero Sophie Ilagan. Hoss added eight.

At the net, Watson provided effective blocking with three block assists to go with one solo block. Loo and freshman middle blockers Jana Cetkovic and Karolina Karabasz had two block assists apiece, while Loo and Karabasz each had a solo tally.

Blinn's matchup with Panola kickstarted an upcoming stretch of seven matches in five days. The Bucs continue that run with a home tilt against Temple College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kruse Center. Blinn will hit the road to face Vernon College on Thursday before playing four games in two days at the Amarillo Tournament beginning Friday in Amarillo, Texas.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 49 national championships since 1987.
