No. 16 Blinn overcomes offensive lull with strong defense in victory over Seminole State

The Buccaneers went 2-0 at the Paris Classic and improved to 6-1 overall

The 16th-ranked Blinn College women's basketball team played through a bit of offensive adversity en route to a 65-56 victory over Seminole State College on Saturday at the Paris Classic in Paris, Texas.

The Buccaneers improved to 6-1 overall after winning both games of the Classic, which was played on the campus of Paris Junior College.

Blinn emerged victorious despite a second-half drought from long distance, using a team effort to fend off the Raiders.

"We played extremely hard and competed on the defensive end," Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. "It was a good team win."

Eleven Buccaneers saw playing time, with each playing an important role in the outcome, Jenkins added.

Blinn trailed 21-17 after the first period but rallied to grab a 38-29 advantage by halftime. The Bucs were ahead 52-41 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Despite scoring just 27 points in the second half, Blinn limited Seminole State to the same offensive output to keep the Bucs in front.
