The Blinn College men's soccer team picked up its second win of the season with a 3-0 shutout of Crush FC on Saturday at Holht Park's Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.

The Buccaneers (2-0) scored all three of their goals in the second half while two Blinn goalkeepers turned in a scoreless effort.

Blinn freshman forward Bryson Bolton snapped a scoreless tie in the 55th minute of play when fellow freshman forward Toby Lansdowne assisted on what proved to be the game-winner. 

Freshman defender Flynn Toon (assisted by sophomore forward Anderson Micolta and sophomore midfielder Felix Mesquita in the 58th minute) and Lansdowne (assisted by Micolta in the 62nd minute) also scored for the Bucs.

"We were just playing the ball down the line and crossing it in and finishing," Bolton said of Blinn's second-half offensive surge. "I got a goal, a couple of my teammates scored … it makes the victory 10 times better."

In goal, sophomore keeper Kevin Pena worked a perfect first half with one save before freshman Finn Rushton closed out the final 45 minutes.

In total Blinn out-shot Crush 22-3, with 12 shots on goal for the Bucs.

Blinn head coach Michael McBride said his team deployed several formations and was happy to see it pay off.

"We experimented with three or four different formations, which made it difficult for our players to settle early on," McBride said. "When we had the right people in the right positions and got the overload in the right areas, we looked really good, and we got stronger as the game went on."

Blinn will get back to work when it hosts the Albion Hurricanes Football Club at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31 at Rankin Field.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
