Everett Nelson begins his first season as an assistant coach with the Blinn College men's basketball program.
Nelson joins the Buccaneers after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Ranger College. During his tenure, he helped lead the Rangers to the 2025-26 NJCAA Region V Tournament while playing an integral role in recruiting, player development, scouting, practice planning, and game preparation. He also helped develop numerous student-athletes who advanced to the NCAA level.
Prior to entering the coaching profession, Nelson enjoyed a successful NCAA Division I playing career at Weber State, UTRGV, and Prairie View A&M. A pass-first point guard known for his leadership and basketball IQ, he appeared in more than 100 Division I games and ranked among the nation's assist leaders during his time at UTRGV.
A Houston native, Nelson graduated from Episcopal High School, where he was a three-time all-state selection, a Top 25 recruit in Texas, and helped lead the Knights to three consecutive Southwest Preparatory Conference state championship game appearances.
Nelson brings strong recruiting ties throughout Texas and is recognized for his ability to build relationships with student-athletes and high school coaches while emphasizing player development and program growth.
