BRENHAM, Texas – The Blinn College men's basketball team won its third consecutive game Friday night with a 78-65 Region XIV Conference victory over the Kilgore Rangers at the Kruse Center.
The Buccaneers took a 42-41 lead into halftime after a Tony Lewis tip-in as the clock ran out.
"I thought we played a really good game," coach Scott Schumacher said. "It was a tough, gritty game, but we were able to get a lead and then we were able to make our free throws down the stretch to keep it.
"I thought our guys played a really good game. They played together, played hard, and played with a purpose."
With the victory, Blinn improved to 10-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. The Buccaneers are now 9-1 at home this season.
"We like the food here in Brenham," Schumacher joked.
The Buccaneers travel to Tyler Junior College Monday for a 7 p.m. game against the Apaches, then return to the Kruse Center Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against Trinity Valley Community College. That game will be part of a double-header, as the Blinn women's basketball team hosts Coastal Bend College at 5:30 p.m.
