Late Buccaneer rally falls short against Victoria, 78-75

VICTORIA, Texas- Despite the Blinn College basketball team rallying to outscore the Victoria College Pirates in the second half, the Buccaneers were dished a 78-75 loss.

"Tonight wasn't our night, but we just have to put our nose to the grindstone and work to get better," said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach.

Tyrus Grayson led the Buccaneers with 13 points, while DJ Johnson followed with 10.

Victoria College jumped on the Buccaneers early to take a 45-30 in the first half. However, the Buccaneers offense pulled together to battle back in the second half and outscore the Pirates 45-33. The rally wasn't enough as the Buccaneers suffered their first loss of the season.

Blinn's record dropped to 3-1.

The Buccaneers return home to take on Lone Star College-Cy Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. for the Adam's Angels Ministries Fundraiser Game.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
